This grass-like herb has pithy or hollow simple stems with narrow leaves and clustered greenish, tawny, or brown flowers. It prefers swales, wet thickets and clearings, bogs, and roadsides with full shade. The height at maturity is 1' to 3'. Plant 1,000 plants/acre.
